WOMEN'S POKER
WASHINGTON CASINOS THE PLACE FOR WOMEN TO PLAY!
|
Congratulations to Barb, Bonnie, and Nona for a good showing at the Tulalip Tournament January 27th, 2008. Barb ended up 7th out of 140 for a $1000.00 cash. Tulalip puts on a class event. They gave everyone who entered the tournament a nice winter lined jacket that said "Tulalip Poker" on the outside.. They paid out three $500 high-hands for the first 3 rounds. They are planning on doing 3 tournaments this year.

Michelle and I are back in Ellensburg from the Wildhorse Spring Poker Round-up with empty pockets, but full of
great new business ideas and a renewed passion for the game we love so much. There were 180 women in the
Ladies event this year. After playing in different casinos we have come to know several of the players. Along
with Michelle and I, there were Barb & Bonnie from Wenatchee, Leslie, Sharon, & Michelle from Yakima, Jessie,
Mona, Kim, & Michelle from Portland. We could go on and on but those were just a few of the wonderful women
we have met through poker. Geez, I am thinking the same thing. There are a lot of Michelles who play poker.
None of us made it in the money but Barb made it to the top 3 tables and Diane made it to the top 4 tables.
One of the highlights of the Ladies event is getting to play with several of the pro women players. All of them are
more than willing to sit and talk with you about poker whether it is just a story or to give advice. It is a great
opportunity to play and talk with some of the women who have really blazed a trail for us. They have made it
easier for us to be accepted in the poker world and created more opportunities to play.
While Michelle and I headed back with empty pockets we are pleased to announce that Bonnie placed 2nd in the
H.O.R.S.E. Tournament. She took home several socks filled with prize money over $9000.00. The tournament
went well past midnight and we stayed to watch the exciting conclusion. Barb, Michelle, and Diane were there as
railbirds to give Bonnie support. It was quite a night and we are very happy for Bonnie and wish to congratulate
her on her hard-fought win.
We were lucky enough to get some great photos from Lori Averett, the official photographer from the Round-up.
Please, check them out and we hope you enjoy them.

Michelle and I were not able to go to the Spring Poker Round-up and it looks like a lot of people skipped it this year.
The economy has been hard on poker players too. There were only 114 entrants this year and the pay-out was
just to 18th. We did see that Michelle Orton from Yakima did well again and got some cash back. She was 9th.
CONGRATULATIONS Michelle.

Hope everyone had fun who was able to attend the 2010 Spring Poker Roundup at the Wildhorse.
We weren't able to go but had some friends attend. Congrats to Bonnie Overfield for cashing in the
H.O.R.S.E. Tourney. She was 14th out of 165.

Barb was doing in her tournament.
8:49pm - Bonnie just won a big hand against her table mate Ivonna Lungu. Bonnie had Q10 & Lungu
had A4 offsuit. K72 came on the flop, A on the turn, & the beautiful J on the river to give Bonnie the straight. She
took Lungu out. Don't know the chip count the websites we are watching are not up to date. Way to go Bonnie!
10:32pm - Amazing! According to the website (keep in mind there have been some inaccuracies) it says
that Mrs. Bonnie Overfield is not only in the top 27 she is currently in 4th place with 243,000 chips and in
WSOP Ladies Event. WOW! Keep going!

215,000 in chips. She's in it to win it!
12:34am Updated chip count: Bonnie is back up in 5th with 218,000 in chips. The leader for
most of the tournament (La Sengpheth) dropped to 7th. It looks like there was a big hand involving several
players for the leaderboard change. New seat assignments: Bonnie is at table 371 where she started the day. At
the table with her are 5 of the other top 10 chip leaders. Keep chipping up Bonnie!
1:00am Bonnie in 5th with 225,000 chips - 17 left

6-13-2010 3:10 pm - Final Table - Ladies 2010 WSOP
Bonnie Overfield is in seat 6. Play Your Game Bonnie and bring it home!!!
3:22pm - THATS OUR BONNIE. Bonnie isn't going to let the chip leader push her around. Chip leader
Boesen raises and Bonnie pushes ALL-IN. Boesen folds. Bonnie is up 44,000 more chips.
3:42pm Bonnie gets involved in a hand with Derosa. Bonnie called her 45,000 raise. Flop comes KJQ and
Derosa pushes All-In. Bonnie folds after thinking about it. Bonnie is in 8th with about 241,000 chips.
3:51pm - Bonnie is NOT afraid to play. She really is there to win this thing.
Bonnie raised all-in from the hijack position and everyone folded & Bon picks up the blinds.
Very next hand Boesen raises 27,000 and Bonnie reraised to 65,000. The chip leader thought about it then
folded. Bonnie now in 5th with 302,000 chips. GO BONNIE. You are giving us goosebumps. We are so proud
of you.
3:52pm -10 Minute Break
4:02pm - Level 21 has just started. Blinds are 8000/16,000 with a 2000 chip ante
4:10pm - Still waiting for an update
4:11pm - Chip Count:
1Kami Chisholm 903,000, 2 Sidsel Boesen 442,000, 3 Timmi Derosa 439,000,
4 La Sengphet 340,000, 5 Allison Whalen 320,000, 6 Bonnie Overfield 299,000
7 Vanessa Hellebuyck 221,000, 8 Holly Hodge 214,000, 9 Loren Watterworth 46,000
4:20pm - Bonnie forced to fold with a raise and reraise in front of her big blind.
4:37pm - Still waiting for an update. Might be a lot of folding around to the blinds.
4:43pm - Whalen who was in 7th place doubles up and goes to 2nd with big hand against Boesen (who
started the day as the chip leader). Boesen drops to 8th. Bonnie is still in the middle of the pack at 5th with
272,000 chips. She is playing well and staying steady by recovering and getting her chips back from blinds
and antes shes had top put out. Bonnie is in a tough spot because we think she is in the big blind with chip
leader Chisholm on the button.
4:50pm - Bonnie moves up into 4th with 266,000 chips as Sengphet drops to 5th with 262,000 chips.
5:02pm - Watterworth eliminated in 9th place. Down to 8 players. Bon in 5th with 260,000 chips. Level 22
has started. Binds: 10,000/20,000 with 3000 antes.
5:08pm - Bonnie goes out in 8th place.
Derosa raises to 50,000 and Bonnie re-raises her all-in. When the cards are turned Bonnie has AK &
Derosa has AA. Flop comes K85 turn is 7 and river a 5. Bonnie had no other way to play it and got unlucky
going up against pocket Aces. She played it exactly right.
For some people poker isn't just a game. It is a passion. Like any art or sport some people are
more talented. They have a sense when to lay down and when to raise. Bonnie Overfield is
one of those people. We have been railbirds for her at a few tournaments, sometimes from
long distance and sometimes in person. It is always exciting watching her from near or far.
Bonnie is a class act and not just a lucky poker player. She is a skilled player with good sense,
patience, and is always trying to better her game. Let's just say it like it is--Bonnie is a damn
good poker player. Congratulations Bonnie, and thanks for letting us be in your dream.
Bonnie Overfield and Barb Andre Van Lith are the first two women we met who really loved
poker like we did. We admire both of them and love to talk to them about poker, play poker with
them, and learn from them by watching and talking for hours about hands and situations.
Thanks for this year's WSOP ride ladies. Can we go again next year?
